Basic beginning techniques covered as we learn some easy and fun tunes!  Also learn how to care for your instrument.

Dulcimer Jam Class!  Learn jam basics, lots of popular jam tunes, and jammin’ tricks!

  B/I - I JANITA BAKER

Useful Music Theory for Dulcimer.  By learning how to take any piece of music and convert it to tab you’ll learn keys, chords, and modes.  A requested repeat of last year with new tunes!

  I SUSAN TRUMP

Susan’s Favorites – Repertoire Potpourri.  Enjoy a variety of styles including fiddle tunes, hymns, popular music, Celtic songs and tunes, O’Carolyn, and more.  Understand techniques that influence different styles. All new tunes for 2008. DAD tuning, capo.

  I DAVE HAAS

Learn arpeggio techniques to make your play smoother, add variation to your songs and play fast songs more cleanly.  Learn names and shapes of chords along the fretboard.  New material!

  I/A KAREN MUELLER

 We’ll work through many musical styles, especially in the chord-melody style, using strumming, flatpicking and finger picking techniques, and develop arrangements of traditional tunes  that go beyond basic melody.  Tunings:  DAD and DGD, bring a capo.

  I/A STEPHEN SEIFERT

Irish Dance Music.  Learn how to play reels, jigs, hornpipes, and airs with these right and left hand techniques. Lots of wonderful tunes!

  A ROBERT FORCE

Music Is The Great Conversation.  Lead lines and improvisations are how you put your own musical story into the tune, sharing with others.

HAMMERED DULCIMER B RICK THUM

Learn basic skills needed to play, learn melodies, using  hammers and tuning, learn how to make a fiddle tune come to life.

Great Fiddle Tunes!  All levels.  Common and not so common fiddle tunes taught with basic melody and embellishments.

Stepping Up.  Learn how to visualize the dulcimer, taking advantage of it’s logical setup and organization tendencies while we learn some great tunes.

My Favorite Tunes, Part 2.  Class will focus on repertoire; how to give the various pieces both energy and beauty.

STEEL DRUM B - B/I GUY GEORGE

Learn lots of tunes arranged to go along with dulcimer tunes.  This includes chord backup and melodies, some Caribbean tunes will also be taught.  Check Guy’s web site for the type of steel drum you will need, or call Guy at 440-478-1232.

FIDDLE B - B/I JORY HUTCHENS

Learn the Basics.  We’ll work on proper positioning, how to hold the bow, and some well loved tunes.

SHAPE NOTE SINGING ALL LEVELS DAVE PARA

Sing in four parts from Songs of  the Sacred Harp and other 19th Century hymnals featuring an older harmonization loved by singers around the country. 

**BASKETS ALL LEVELS MARY CARTY

Different types and styles baskets from previous years!  Bring scissors, cloth measuring tape, spray bottle, clip clothespins, a screw driver and a towel.

KIDS' CAMP (Rm 196)   JEFFREY MILLER Beginning Mountain Dulcimer. Dulcimers will be provided or bring your own. Kayla Clark and Josh Noe will also be on hand to help teach.
TEEN CAMP (Cafeteria)   MARY CARTY Basket Weaving
TEEN CAMP (Rm 144)   VERA FRAZIER JAM Class for mountain dulcimer and hammered dulcimer players with some experience. Learn skills you need to really enjoy jamming.
