MOUNTAIN DULCIMER B ROBERT FORCE

Boot Camp for Dulcimers.  We’ll learn the fundamentals of rhythm, strumming, angle and hand placement, speed, tone and the basics of playing.

  B/I STEPHEN SEIFERT

Learn Tunes the Easy Way.  Learn how many musicians learn tunes.  Expect fiddle tunes and great songs with this easy method.  Strumming, chords, and left-handed fingering.

  B/I   SUSAN TRUMP

Understanding and Using Hammer-ons, Pull-offs, Slides.  Work on the “how to’s” and apply them to add zip to your playing.  You’ll be surprised how easy and fun it can be!

  I BING FUTCH

DAA Tuning or Adventures in Ionian.  Explore new  territories within this versatile mode.  Deeper drones and fuller chords lead the way as we learn chord shapes, harmony building and  gorgeous tri-tone melodies.

  I   SHELLEY STEVENS

Bits & Pieces – Basics of Competition.  We’ll compose our own tunes by changing modes, meter and/or compiling bits from other tunes. Imagination and capo needed, ideas provided!

Ensemble Repertoire – See Session One.

NOTE: This exact class will be held Session One.

  DAVE HAAS

We’ll play beautiful melodies using advanced arpeggio techniques, add variation to your play, create song arrangements, and incorporate artificial harmonics.  New material!

BOWED MOUNTAIN DULCIMER B – B/I JIM MILLER

This fun class will cover bowing techniques, fingering, several tunes.  You don’t need a bowed instrument to take this class, but be sure to bring a bow.

HAMMERED DULCIMER B MOLLY McCORMACK

Repertoire for the Beginning Player.  Learn several melodies, along with beginning chords, hammer techniques and tuning tips.

  B/I CATHY BARTON

‘Tis The Season: Tunes For Christmas and WinterSolstice.  A diversity of tunes including carols from around the world, popular songs and rounds. Notation will be provided, however, we’ll get away from written music.  Embellishment techniques, too.

  A STEPHEN HUMPHRIES

Hammer It Up!  This innovative class will focus on advanced techniques and ways to expand musical options. Think outside the box with new tunes, practice perspectives, styles.

PENNY WHISTLE B/I - I GUY GEORGE

Take the next step in a D whistle by playing chromatics and in different keys.  Lots of new tunes!

**FABRIC SMOCKING B ANGELA ROJAS

Smocking 101.  Learn this ancient peasant handicraft of England.  Embroidery that decorates as well as gathers the fabric on which it is worked.  Easy to do!

**GOURD DECORATING ALL ANNE ZABENCO

A variety of artistic techniques will be used to decorate large gourds.  They can then be turned into musical instruments! 

KIDS' CAMP (Rm 144)   VERA FRAZIER Beginning Hammered Dulcimer & Singing Folk Songs.
TEEN CAMP (Rm 132)   BUTCH ROSS Mountain Dulcimer. A comprehensive look at incorporating contemporary music styles and techniques into your repertoire. (Yo! Kids, I'm making this sound so boring that no one will know how cool this class is gonna be!)
TEEN CAMP (Rm 190)   MARTHA RICHARD Hammered Dulcimer for those with some playing experience.
