Mountain Dulcimer B Sarah Morgan Simply Hymns. We’ll use well-known, simple hymns to learn timing, rhythm skills, smoothing your fingering, chording and ear-training. No prior experience needed. DAD.
B/I Aaron O'Rourke Mood Swings – Chords effect how we perceive the “mood” of a tune. We’ll explore the many chordal possibilities with a melody, creating different moods for our tunes.
B/I Nina Zanetti Fingerpicking for the First Time. Learn to fingerpick and how to make this style sound pretty. We’ll start with an overview of right hand techniques, exploring different patterns, and then learn some practice tunes.
B/I + Molly McCormack Songs of Sam Stone. Sam was a prolific songwriter who shared his sweet and touching songs with us for many years. Keeping in his memory, we’ll learn some of Sam’s most memorable songs. Singers as well as players are welcome!
B/I - I Wayne Seymour From MILD TO WILD! A Jammer’s Guide! We’ll take familiar jam tunes and learn how to make them more interesting. Class includes listening to players of other string instruments, develop variations on melody, rhythm and harmony.
I Janita Baker Creating Duet Arrangements. We’ll find ways to create musical duet arrangements by using counterpoint, harmony and your musical ear. Bring your playing partner(s) and pieces you would like to arrange.
I Joellen Lapidus We’ll focus on more contemporary styles of playing and repertoire using a variety of tunings and rhythms including reverse and jazz tunings, the slap technique used by Joni Mitchell and 3 of her 4 dulcimer tunes, and much more!
I Stephen Seifert Tempo Clinic. Each day I’ll work the class through time-tested techniques and exercises that can dramatically increase tempo. You’ll learn to play faster with comfort and taste as we workout with tunes from a number of traditions. Bring a capo.
I - I/A Jerry Rockwell Celtic Repertoire. We’ll build full, rich and dynamic solo arrangements of a variety of styles including slow airs and lullabyes, jigs, marches and pipe tunes. We’ll work on developing skills including flatpicking, hammer-ons and pull offs, flourishes and embellishments and more.
I/A Carol Walker Music Appweciation with Bugs Bunny! If you watched cartoons as a child you alweady know a lot of classical music. Cawol has awwanged some favowite tunes you will wecognize wight away, and add a new dimension to your wepertoire.
I/A Mark Gilston Old Time Tunes in Depth. We’ll use some wonderful old time tunes as a foundation for learning styling, syncopation and lots of technique. Then we’ll try harmonizing with them and adding variations and improvisation.
A Butch Ross Contemporary Rhythm Workshop. Learn rhythmic forms from genres such as jazz, rock and world music. Learn to swing and shuffle, syncopate and play poly-rhythms that breathe new life into your music.

Hammered Dulcimer B Martha Richard New Key Each Day! Students will explore playing in a new key each day – C, G, D, A, and F. We will locate the keys, play the scales and chords within the key, and a simple tune.
B/I & Up Rick Thum Join the Jam! We’ll learn chords and chord progressions, how to hear them and play them in a jam. We’ll apply these through various methods to make you comfortable in a jam whether you know the tune or not.
I Ruth Smith Playing Expressively. We’ll pay close attention to phrasing, dynamics, accents, and more as we learn to accentuate the beauty in melody lines and emphasize the underlying theme of the music.
I/A Karen Ashbrook English Repertoire. We’ll learn delightful, somewhat classical sounding tunes in a variety of time signatures used for dancing. This is beautiful repertoire that makes excellent music for weddings and receptions. English tunes use more chords than fiddle tunes, and if you enjoy harmony, this class is for you.
A Stephen Humphries Two Hands, One Mind. Prepare to get your brain working in full gear with this hand interdependence class. We’ll work on exercises and familiar tunes using accompaniment patterns in one hand and melodies in the other. We’ll generate ideas for arranging tunes and sparking creativity for composing.
Ukulele I Peter Madcat Ruth American Roots Music. More keys, more chords, more songs in this fun and challenging class! Take your playing to the next level.
Music Theory Intro All Jim Miller Covers scales, chords, modes, intervals, and chord progressions and helps explain why we do what we do when we play music.
Guitar I Steve Smith Fingerstyle Guitar. Learn the basic three-finger rolls for 4/4 and 3/4 time (right-hand patterns and variations), techniques for backing up instruments with passing chords, supporting ornamentation and dynamics. Intermediate Skill Level.
Fiddle B/I Ken Kolodner Old Time Fiddle Technique & Repertoire. We’ll cover several approaches to developing a rhythmic bow, the key to driving fiddle tunes and playing with the right feeling. “Circle bowing”, ghosting, bow rocks, Nashville shuffle and left hand techniques may be presented. Lots of really cool tunes! (Bring a recording device.)
Banjo B David Brooks You’ll learn the basic clawhammer stroke and develop the foundation for a steady, rhythmic right hand. Left hand techniques will add melody and style to your playing.
B/I Sue Massek Old Time Banjo for Those Who Have the Basics. Enhance your skills of clawhammer and old time picking by exploring various tunings and styles while learning several tunes. We’ll also accompanying vocals and other lead instruments.
Harp I/A Lorinda Jones English Country Dance Tunes. Expand your repertoire with new melodies, intricate rhythms and accompaniment patterns, all while learning classic Playford and English country dance tunes.
Autoharp B/I Karen Mueller We’ll move forward to more complex strumming and simple melody picking. Material will include folk, bluegrass, Irish and popular music. We’ll use written music and also play some by ear. Bring finger and thumb picks.
Mandolin B/I David Wilson We’ll learn different chord forms that will dramatically improve playing with others and learning tunes/songs, hammer-ons and pull-offs, different picking strokes, tremolo, rhythms including that Bluegrass “Chop”.
Social Orchestra All Paul Oorts In this class we’ll take a variety of pieces and have parts for various levels. We’ll play together under a “baton” rather than a jam where anything goes. All instruments welcome! We’ll join forces with the other Social Orchestra class on Friday for an “end of the week” performance!
**Basketry All Mary Carty We will work with wooden slotted bases in this class. All level weavers are welcome as we make a purse or a tote. Bring scissors, clothes pins, awl, spray bottle, and a towel.
**Stained Glass B-B/I Gale Sturm For beginners or just past beginner, we’ll learn or revisit marking glass, cutting glass, grinding, foil and solder glass and improve techniques as the week progresses.
