Mountain Dulcimer B Janita Baker Introduction to Finger Picking. We’ll cover both left and right hand techniques in this class that is for those with no finger picking experience. We’ll start with very simple songs and work through a variety of styles including blues, classical and traditional.
B/I Stephen Seifert Learn Like Grandpa Did. While tab will be Handed out at the end of each session, the focus will be learning in a “do-as-I-do” style similar to what folks did in the old days.You don’t need a great ear. We’ll cover two tunes a day like Lynchburg Town, Angel Band and much more!
B/I Aaron O'Rourke Exercises for Improving Technique.We’ll get your left and right hands working in sync by improving dexterity, finger independence, and comfort with the entire fret board; plus tone and dynamics.
B/I - I Gary Gallier Fundamentals of Flatpicking. We’ll learn the very basics of picking across the strings, scales, chords, string choices, and picking technique. We’ll learn several new tunes and also use tunes you know.
I Butch Ross More Songs of the 60’s & 70’s! Learn the techniques necessary to adopt “classic” rock and pop songs to dulcimer. Too much fun last year, so we’re doing it again with new songs! Additional levels can join in!
I Jeff Furman The Wonderful World of CHORDS! We will cover shapes, voicing, fingering, anchoring, hearing chord changes, and much more as we explore the many uses of chords to enhance your playing. CAPO needed.
I Bing Futch Exploring An Aeolian World. We’ll get warm and cuddly with the dark and mysterious Aeolian mode, both by tuning (DAC) and via capo (1st fret). We’ll learn scales, chords and well-known traditional songs written in this mode including “Shady Grove”, “Road To Lisdoonvarna”, and more.
I/A Dave Haas Create your own 3-5 minute arrangements of slow and melodic songs. We’ll discuss arranging, introductions and endings, incorporating melody and chords in second position on the dulcimer with special touches to make arrangements shine!
Chromatic Dulcimer I-A Sarah Elizabeth Learn the techniques and tips necessary to bring out the intricate beauty of your chromatic dulcimer. We'll learn tunes that will help teach you the fingerings, chording and lead lines.
Both Dulcimers All Steve Eulberg Dulcimer Symphony. Using the “Finale” of Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony, Vivaldi’s “Spring”, some hymn tunes and selections from “A Southern Harmony” we’ll create a harmonious dulcimer experience and share it with everyone!
Hammered Dulcimer B Princess Harris You’ll become familiar with your instrument and lay a foundation for learning and playing music. We’ll start with the absolute basics and grow from there, learning tunes & even embellishments.
B/I Karen Ashbrook Easy Irish Tunes. We’ll learn a few polkas, marches and jigs to add to your repertoire.
I Rick Thum Take your playing to the next level. Lots of embellishment and practice techniques, syncopation, dynamics adding emotion to songs, alternate rhythms, and arranging. So much to learn, so little time.
I/A - A Dan Landrum We’ll take your hammering techniques and rhythms to a new level as we focus on building repertoire into new directions.
Autoharp B/I Karen Mueller Learn additional advanced strums, using more than just three chords at a time in a variety of patterns. Lots of fun songs from traditional folk and gospel to contemporary and Celtic tunes. We’ll learn melody picking, principles and techniques and more!
Vocal All Dan Evans Learn to listen carefully to sing in tune, breathe properly for sustain, project your voice for power and sing from the heart to move your audience while we work on lots of songs.
Harp B Lorinda Jones Find how easy it is to play simple melodies and one finger accompaniments. We’ll touch on proper technique, but focus more on one finger, using our ears to help us find the notes. Harps available for rent!
Guitar B/I Cheri Miller This class covers tuning, scales and chords, strumming techniques, basic rhythms, bass runs and use of a capo.
Mandolin B - B/I Jim Miller Old Time Mandolin. This class will cover chords, scales, pick techniques, and several simple melodies.
Penny Whistle I Guy George Lots of duets and playing in a Group. We’ll add jazzy parts, chords on the whistle, things to play behind the Melody. Lots and lots of tunes! D whistle needed for class; available for sale.
Old Time Dancing All Les Gustafson-Zook Put on your dancin’ shoes! Join your friends and a LIVE BAND for some dancin’ fun with easy contras, circles, mixers and squares! Open to all ages!
**Baskets All Mary Carty Different types and styles of baskets from previous years. Bring scissors, cloth measuring tape, spray bottle, clip clothespins, a screw driver and a towel to make a treasure!
